ウィレム・デ・クーニング

ウィレム・デ・クーニング (Willem de Kooning, 1904年4月24日 – 1997年3月19日) は、オランダ・ロッテルダム生まれのアメリカの画家。1926年に渡米し、1962年にアメリカ市民権を取得した。ジャクソン・ポロックらと並ぶ抽象表現主義 (ニューヨーク派) の中心的人物であり、抽象とフィギュレーション (具象) の間を往復する激しい筆触で知られる。

特に1950年代の「Woman」連作は、抽象表現主義における純粋抽象の流れに具象を持ち込んだことで論争を呼び、20世紀絵画の方向性に決定的な影響を与えた。晩年の流麗で透明感のある作品群もアメリカ戦後絵画の重要な達成として高く評価されている。
